After twelve years as a real estate agent in Redlands, California, Lois Lauer opened her own office in 1976, as Lois Lauer Realty. The company quickly grew and after only two years had to move to larger quarters, as it had become the largest office locally.
In 1981, Lois convinced her son-in-law, Vaughn Bryan, that the activity was too strong for her to manage alone and he joined her as manager. With this added strength, the company now began to branch into nearby communities by opening an office in Yucaipa to handle the east end of the Inland Empire. Within a few years offices opened in Loma Linda to service the medical community there, followed by another office in San Bernardino/Highland, the larger and more heavily populated communities of the east valley.
The company had become the largest independent Real Estate firm in the valley and flourished a few years with the four offices. However, it became apparent that since a Mortgage Company and an Escrow Division had been opened, it would be a more efficient operation to combine the personnel into one state of the art facility. The opportunity to purchase a building with freeway visibility presented itself, so in July 1998, 78 agents, management, escrow, mortgage and commercial were happily ensconced at 1998 Orange Tree Lane, Redlands, California.
Very shortly thereafter, franchise companies began to solicit Lois Lauer Realty, and though they had all tried before and been turned down, it became evident that franchising would be the way in the new economy. In the Fall of 1998, the board of directors and stockholders, many of whom are the company's top producers, voted to become CENTURY 21 Lois Lauer Realty.
Within the first eighteen months of joining CENTURY 21, the company had taken top honors in the franchise and has now established itself among the top 20 CENTURY 21 companies in the world.
In January 1999, the company purchased Shelter West of Riverside to serve the Riverside-Moreno Valley area. In order to better serve the West Valley, in February 2000, a branch was opened in Fontana. A branch in Moreno Valley was opened in 2002 and in 2007, the Riverside branch merged operations into the Moreno Valley location. In addition to residential services, the Moreno Valley branch includes the company's Ascend Commercial division. Growth in Relocation, Business Development, Training and Marketing necessitated a new location for those operations now located at 1901 Orange Tree Lane, Redlands.
Today, the firm embraces technology with web-based business applications and marketing which complement its company owned services that include escrow, mortgage and centralized transaction management.
An industry leader, Century 21 Lois Lauer Realty now has upwards of 220 full-time realestate agents who service the real estate needs of the Inland Empire.
